UfI VocTech Seed Project 2017
Titration Station
Hello and welcome to Titration Station. This project aims to address the current limitations when teaching practical science skills online.

A Challenging Project
The “AR Titration Station” is a mobile augmented reality educational teaching and training platform that specialises in the simulation of titration experimentation utilising augmented and mixed reality laboratory equipment. The use of mobile augmented reality, based on the android and iOS platforms, allows learners to experience the skills and techniques required to perform titrations without the need for access to specialist lab equipment and chemicals. The project is funded by Ufi as part of their VocTech Seed Fund. Through the use of smartphones and AR we can place virtual lab equipment on your table and simulate realistic scientific experimentation as if you were using the real equipment in a lab.
Using the latest digital technologies this mobile app will provide solutions to limited laboratory space and equipment associated with the need to deliver science in vocational settings (workplaces) and support science, distance and online learners.
Working with other members of the Ufi ‘family’ we will share experience and expertise to ensure the project is forward thinking and able to adapt and embrace emerging innovative technology.
Starting with a titration experiment the end goal will be to enable development of a series of other laboratory theories, techniques and experiments within an Augmented laboratory based on real world physics.
When complete the App, named ‘Titration Station’ will be available for use by students and institutions external to the College, with a possible commercial opportunity.

Check below often for updates from members of the team
We hold team meetings regularly and want to share our progress with you. The meetings are going well, although Gail and Helen have been disappointed by the lack of biscuits, and we hope that we shall be able to share the prototype of the application soon.
